Meet Dr. Lisa DeMarco

Dr. Lisa DeMarco is a board-certified orthodontist with more than 25 years of experience. She is recognized for her outstanding skills and individualized care in all facets of orthodontics, including adult, pediatric, and adolescent care, using traditional braces, clear braces, Invisalign® aligners, and Damon™ Smile self-ligating braces.

Dr. DeMarco graduated summa cum laude and first in her class at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She served as class president and received numerous awards for outstanding academic achievement and leadership.

Following graduation, Dr. DeMarco completed an additional year of General Practice Residency training at the Mt Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, where she specialized in hospital dentistry and the care of patients with medical complications. She also practiced as a general dentist in Washington, D.C., and this experience has empowered her to provide more complicated adult orthodontic treatment involving prosthetic and periodontal care, which require close coordination with the general dentist.

Dr. DeMarco completed her Orthodontic Specialty Certification and a Master of Science degree at the University of Maryland, where she served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Post Graduate Award for Clinical Excellence and many other honors. As Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, she taught orthodontics and served as Director of Undergraduate Clinical Orthodontics.

Dr. DeMarco has been recognized for the past 26 years as an Outstanding Orthodontist by the Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Consumers’ Checkbook and has been featured in several Washington Post, Washingtonian, and Bethesda Magazine articles on orthodontics.

Dr. DeMarco is active in many national and local orthodontic associations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, American Academy of Facial Esthetics, Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists and World Federation of Orthodontists.

Dr. DeMarco’s area of interest and expertise include adolescent orthodontics and orthognathic surgical correction of dentofacial deformities. Her outstanding qualifications and experience coupled with her genuine interest in her patients and her enthusiasm for orthodontics allow her to provide excellent and caring orthodontic treatment.

Committed to providing the latest advance in orthodontic treatment, Dr. DeMarco regularly takes advanced education courses to remain abreast of the changes in orthodontics, which she incorporates into the practice to provide patients with excellent and state-of-the-art orthodontic care in a comfortable and caring environment.

Dr. DeMarco is active in many community and school organizations, including youth sports teams and volunteer groups. She donates her time to Mission of Mercy, through which she treats underserved patients in Appalachia, rural Maryland and the Eastern Shore. She has provided dental care in remote areas of Guatemala with Global Dental Relief.

Dr. DeMarco is the proud mother of a son and daughter and is married to Dr. Leonard Goldman, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, who also practices in Silver Spring. Dr. DeMarco’s additional interests include cycling, golf, travel and enjoying time with family and friends.
